Etching

What is Etching?

Etching is a common occurrence for stone surfaces, and can typically appear as a blemish, dull spot, mild stain, or a water spot that won't go away.  With etches, wetting the area temporarily improves its look, but the area returns its dull appearance after drying.  Wetting the surface and observing for changes in appearance can be a quick method of differentiating between stains, mineral deposits, and etch marks.

Give Us a Call!

Etching typically results from an adverse reaction with chemicals or cleaners, but can also come from physical damage (sandpaper, abrasive scrub pads, etc.).  Such issues can be helped, but generally require professional assistance.  If you need assistance with an etched surface, or have any questions related to etching/stone care feel free to call our stone-care professionals at 317-865-0000.
